Sue Rosenthal joined The Miami Foundation in 2026 as our Chief Financial Officer. Before then, she worked at Barry University as the Vice President for Business and Finance. As the chief financial officer, Rosenthal provides strategic financial leadership and directs all aspects of The Foundation’s finances and investments.
Prior to her experience at Barry, Rosenthal was employed with the Miami Herald Media Company since 2002 as the Vice President for Finance and CFO. In this role, Rosenthal managed all financial aspects including budgeting, credit and collections, billing advertising and circulation, payroll, accounts payable, general ledger accounting, and month-end reporting. Her cost-saving techniques resulted in more than $125 million in expense savings from 2009-2014. She managed all financial planning for the Miami Herald’s $50 million move to Doral in 2014.
Prior to her experience with the Miami Herald, Rosenthal served as Senior Director of Business Development with Commerce One, Director of Financial Planning with Viacom, and Senior Financial Analyst with the General Motors Treasurer’s Office.
Rosenthal previously served on the Barry University Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2010, including chairing the Finance and Facilities Committee from 2009 to 2010.
Rosenthal has been involved in volunteer work for more than a decade. While working at the Miami Herald, she was the President of the Board for Miami Herald Charities and the Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee for Miami Children’s Museum Board of Directors. In recent years, she has served on the North Beach Elementary Educational Excellence School Advisory Council and the Temple Beth Sholom School Committee.
A native of Solon, Ohio, Rosenthal received her BS in Business from Miami University (Ohio) in 1991 and her MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business in 1996.
