As the Southeast Region Executive for the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, Maria Escorcia oversees the firm’s multi-million-dollar philanthropy portfolio and leads a team serving Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee. She oversees a diverse portfolio of economic development, nonprofit, educational, and research partners dedicated to increasing economic opportunity through workforce development, small business growth, community development, and financial capability initiatives. Maria collaborates closely with community leaders, elected officials, and business leaders to identify and support best-in-class programs that align with the firm’s strategic philanthropic goals.
Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase, Maria was Director of South Florida at Ashoka, managing operations, fundraising, and partnerships. She also spent six years leading corporate responsibility at Cementos Argos, where she developed impactful programs that boosted economic development in central Colombia and established a corporate foundation in Haiti that contributed to post-earthquake relief and reconstruction.
Maria holds a master’s degree in international development from the University of Pittsburgh, where she received a full merit scholarship from the Center for Latin American Studies. While pursuing her master’s, she participated in the United Nations Headquarters Internship Program in New York City, working at the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
Maria also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, and a master’s degree in psychology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Madrid, Spain.
