Juan Carlos Liscano is the Vice President of Miami Hub Operations for American Airlines. He leads a team of 15,500 team members who operate nearly 400 daily flights from Miami International Airport (MIA). The Miami hub is American’s largest international gateway, serving more than 160 destinations in 46 countries.
Juan Carlos joined the airline in 1994 and has held numerous leadership roles throughout his career. He has previously served as Managing Director of Latin America, Managing Director of Los Angeles Hub Operations, Managing Director of Flight Service Strategy and Managing Director of Customer Care in Miami.
He is an active member of the Greater Miami community, currently serving on the board of directors for several local civic and business organizations, including the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Educational Fund, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, New World Symphony, and the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. He just ended his two-year term as the Chairman for the Miami-Dade Beacon Council.
Juan Carlos was born in Cali, Colombia and grew up in Queens, New York. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Florida International University and a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University.
Last year, he was featured in the South Florida Business Journal’s Power Leaders 250: Most Influential Business Leaders. In 2022, Juan Carlos received the Greater Miami Aviation Association’s Juan Trippe Award, which recognizes significant contributions by an individual to the development of international aviation.
Cycling and diving are his non-aviation passions, but his true passion is family time. He resides in Miami with his wife, Joanne, and his four children.
